Without really appreciating it at the time I always had a love of the natural world as a child, messing around in local fields and rivers, building dens, picking wildflowers and collecting conkers. Sounds idyllic? It really was! It was only as an adult that I realised how much I had taken for granted and how lucky I was.

I was extremely fortunate having parents who loved their garden and the outdoor life. My treehouse in an Elderberry tree, made from old bits of wood, would have failed any safety tests, but I loved it! We had huge bonfires on Bonfire Night with the local neighbours, cricket and football matches on the nearby fields and spent many weekends covered in mud but very happy.

Fast forward to my late teenage years, I studied Art at school but went on to study law at university, having a career in law for many years. I picked up my artist's brushes once more some years later, quickly rekindling my passion for painting and combining it with a love of nature, the outdoors and all things botanical. I went 'public' with my artwork in 2017 exhibiting in a local Art Trail, sold out in 2 days and the rest, as they say, is history!

We still live in Cheshire, surrounded by beautiful countryside and with Lindow Peat Bogs on our doorstep, the discovery place of Lindow Man over 2000 years after his death and now in the British Museum. I walk our dog, Willow, surrounded by meadows, woodland and bogs, the natural world a daily source of inspiration. I find solace living in tune with the seasons, observing the subtle seasonal changes, waiting for the next wildflower to emerge in spring and collecting seed heads in autumn, always with a camera to hand. You will often find me knee deep in brambles looking at lichens or fungi!

In my studio at the bottom of our garden I try to recreate the natural world on paper, accurately but also honestly and vibrantly. I paint primarily in watercolour which perfectly suits the delicate form, colour and texture of the subject matter.

The source and provenance of my products are extremely important to me and my brand. I work with some wonderfully supportive UK and family based small businesses, usually local to my home in Cheshire, ensuring a bespoke and high quality service and range of products.

I have exhibited with the Society of Botanical Artists on may occasions, receiving awards for Exhibiting Excellence and Botanical Merit, becoming a fellow of the Society in 2019. My artwork has featured on the cover of their magazine twice. I have also exhibited in London with the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour and the Society of Women Artists. The John Clare Society featured my artwork on the cover of their annual journal in 2023. My Botanical Design trade stand won 4 stars at the Royal Horticultural Society Tatton Flower Show in my home county of Cheshire in 2023. I have also licenced artwork for commercial use, most recently with Black Cow Vodka based in Dorset, vodka made from milk.

I am always thinking about the next painting and pinch myself every time I get to spend time in the studio with my paints doing what I love most. I hope you enjoyed reading!
